RCT Surgery Recovery Time Cut in Half!
Clint Longenecker has been a professor of management in the College of Business and Innovation at The University of Toledo for 30 years. Clint was a college football player and ended up with an injury in the shoulder area, which was the starting point for a severe rotator cuff tear.
Surgery was put off for several years but eventually intervention was necessary. Clint’s surgeon said, “This is the worst rotator cuff injury we have ever seen.” Clint had a 2.5” tear in the supraspinatus on the back of his right shoulder and 3 tendons avulsed off the bone of that shoulder. His doctors told him that recovery would be extensive.
However, 10 days after surgery Clint began using the home H-Wave device in hopes that it would help accelerate his recovery and relieve some of the pain. He was very disciplined and used it regularly, as prescribed by his doctor. Due to his commitment to stay consistent with his treatment schedule, he started to experience some amazing results. He was able to stop taking pain medication and solely use the H-Wave to manage his pain after only 1 week. Additionally, with his arm completely immobilized, he used the H-Wave to increase circulation throughout the area without having to move the vulnerable shoulder muscles and tissues.
When he went to physical therapy just 4 weeks after surgery, the clinicians took his arm out of the sling and started to test his range of motion. To their surprise, Clint was able to lift and rotate his arm much farther than they expected. As they continued to guide his arm further, they kept asking him “Should we stop?” and “Are you doing ok?” and he just kept saying “Keep Going!”
Nobody could believe how far he was able to lift his arm and how much his range of motion had improved in such a short time frame, especially since that area had been completely immobilized for the previous 30 days. They kept bringing in more clinicians to take a look, and even got out Clint’s X-rays and soft-tissue images to compare the before and after results. They’d never seen anyone with a rotator cuff tear as bad as Clint’s be able to recover that quickly. His doctors finally concluded that the only explanation for his remarkable rehabilitation, was that he was treating with the H-Wave.
According to the AAOS, most patients have a functional range of motion and ‘adequate’ strength by 4 to 6 months after rotator cuff tear repair surgery. Clint was able to recover in half the time. His arm was immobilized for 2 months total after surgery, and then he was able to start his regular exercise regimen using weights which hastened his recovery even further. “I believe the H-Wave allowed me to move though the healing cycle much more quickly than might otherwise be the case.” His advice:
“If you’re experiencing pain from a joint or injury, the H-Wave device can be a powerful tool to help you manage pain and work your way through a healing process.”
